It is really nice to see old friends and to meet new ones every year at Women on wall street.

thanks to everyone who came by to say hello at our conference booth.

this year was about sustainability, more on my thoughts about the discussion later.

there was definitely a different atmosphere at the conference and one of the things that the Keynote Speaker: Mindy S. Lubber, President of Ceres, and Director of the Investor Network on Climate Risk kept saying was the economic meltdown was the tipping point for the new system of the environment being an integral part of the capital markets- carbon offsets etc. very interesting. did the discussion really go deep or did it show us that we really dont know what the heck we are doing yet? i walked away a little bewildered - being lectured academically about the carbon issue and then the conversation turning to mommy guilt all on the same panel was jarring

these panelists were are amazing individuals, but i thought last year and the year before was better. when i say better i mean it resonated more.

your thoughts?

maybe the age of aquarius is coming after all....

Hi Nicki

I know what you mean. I usually come out of the conference feeling like "I am woman, hear me roar!" but this year left me a little less full of hope, a little less enthusiastic about going back out into the world. I consider the WOW conference to be my annual battery jolt.

This year the speakers were not as confident on the issue, not as passionate about the direction we are going - but more pleading with us to get it. To get the importance of sustainability and to help them get a message across. Then there was the guilt as a mom and taking care of yourself shpiel that you get in every womens' magazine.

The one part that did touch my heart and made me feel somewhat empowered was to know that 10,000 Women exists. It is long overdue and I hope we can see real results in the form of raising awareness and confidence in less fortunate areas.

I really want to break the silence and get the word out about what it's really like to be a woman on wall street.
Anyone willing to share their stories, please contact me at [email protected]
Thanks!
