Where are you being inauthentic?

This is a question I ask myself when I’m stuck because I know if I’m stuck it means I’ve given up my power somewhere—typically by not telling myself the complete truth about something. And whatever that is in my blind spot.So I figured it out (on a coaching call). It was pretty straightforward. I was defining my work too narrowly and leaving out a part that I’m really passionate about – entrepreneurship.I’m re-envisioning the work of Clairmont Development Group after a long pause and want to…See More

Navigating Gender Norms to Enhance Career Trajectory

When we originally conducted the Athena research on differentiators of successful interns and analysts, beyond performance, four key buckets of attributes emerged – confidence, dedication, relationships, and ability to navigate gender norms. We have typically addressed navigating gender norms in the context of playing by the male-norm based rules of the game – - in a feminine style, to the degree which that is possible. Download free promotion checklist at…See More

How does the promotion process actually work?

The market has been volatile again this week yet I'm sticking to my guns with my message encouraging networking and relationship building. Why? Two reasons. One, the promotion process takes at least one or two years typically during which time the market will have cycled through many permutations. While of course you must absolutely be sensitive to what people are experiencing during tense times and connect with them appropriately, you are continuing to strategically build relationships,…See More

Are you going into the refrigerator for a diet coke while your house is on fire?

The market has been really moving this week and not in a good direction. Firms are getting ready for layoffs as they deal with the repercussions of restructuring compensation to allow for bigger base pay and smaller bonus pay. New regulations are transforming the tone of how business is done. I suspect right now everyone wants to hunker down and just get their job done in as unobtrusive way as possible. So the thought of networking at a time like this may seem counter-intuitive – like going…See More

Are you already acting the part?

Acting the part is considered by many to be an important part of ramping up to gracefully step up to the next level.

“When you find out person was promoted, you should be surprised in that you thought they were at the level already”

“Assumption is you’re already acting like the title you’re aspiring to – demonstrate that you’re already in that role in body, mind and spirit”

Those not seen as acting the part may not be seen as promotion ready.…

Hi Natalie,

Thanks so much for your interest. Sadly, we canceled the event as we received feedback that the concept was not appropriate in the current environment. Cheers.
