As an avid snowboarder I always find that several times each winter I want to do  Jumps. The park (small park) is full of kids, and men, no women past 20. why is that? and at the grand old age of 35 should I be continuing to jump boxes and rails (many bruises) or stick to the carving down the mountain?
any thoughts folks?

I took my first snowboard lesson at age 44 and second at age 45 with my 14 year old son.  I was the oldest woman in both classes which was intimidating.  But I challenged myself to make it through, not be the last down the hill, to do something I'd always wanted to do, and to find a way to connect with my teenage son.

I went to a board meeting right after the first lesson after experiencing the normal tailbone bruising.  I walked with a limp and the board member asked me about it.  He said I thought that is something you learn when you are about 14 years old.  I said, "it probably is but I'm not getting any closer to 14"!

My thoughts...take the lesson, challenge yourself, and you are never to old.  It is all in how you think.  It will inspire you to keep going.
