Wage Gap Closing - for Young, Unmaried Women Without Children

According to Time, a new study shows that the wage gap in the US may be closing in - but only for a small subset of the population.

"this reverse gender gap, as it's known, applies only to unmarried, childless women under 30 who
live in cities. The rest of working women - even those of the same age,
but who are married or don't live in a major metropolitan area - are
still on the less scenic side of the wage divide"

Do you think this is a sign of things to come? Will the wage gap shrink as these young women grow into leadership positions? Or do you think that the "reverse gender gap" will continue to exist only for women in the age group that has yet to make career sacrifices that often come along with motherhood?

As one of these young, unmarried, childless, professional women this was sort of good - insofar as those of us with the educations necessary to rise professionally typically defer marriage/children until we are older, making our out-earning men a nice side effect, that hopefully will translate into maintaining parity (or close to it) when we do take the plunge for marriage and kids. I guess only time will tell...

I posted a longer response on Life: Forward, and got similar responses from readers - sounds nice, but we'll see - and in the meantime, I hope this does not detract from the fact that the wage gap is very much still open!
