Event Description

The FWA is pleased to present Noreen Harrington, the whistle-blower on the mutual fund market-timing scandal.

“No one wants to be a whistle-blower. No one dreams as a little child, ‘I hope one day I grow up to be a whistle-blower.’ Certainly, I did not. I was an industry insider. I worked at prestigious firms, including Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Barclays Capital. I was successful in my career. Why would I want to jeopardize everything? Certainly, it can turn a person’s life upside down, as it did to mine. So, why did I blow the whistle in 2003 on the mutual fund market-timing scandal?”

Please join us on September 30th to learn the answers to these questions, and to hear Noreen’s harrowing story of how her world was forever changed one night when she happened upon two brokers at her firm entering trades after the market close, and the massive scandal that was exposed as a result.
